Social Support

DACS staff are specially trained to deliver comprehensive and tailored support, enabling you and your loved one to continue to maintain an active and socially engaging lifestyle.

Our community access services include support with social outings and groups, arranging for visits and visitors, and more. DACS staff can accompany you to appointments such as with a doctor, dentist, or hairdresser, and assist with shopping or visits to family and friends.

DACS can also provide in home social support with reading books or newspapers, letter writing and other correspondence, welfare checks, and hobbies like cooking and knitting.

You may be eligible for funding to purchase communication technologies such as tablets, smart devices, and internet subscriptions to continue to be contactable, connected, and active with family, friends, and local community. DACS staff can assist with purchases and provide instructions and assistance on how to use these technologies.

Our individual social support services include:

  • Accompanying you on activities such as shopping trips, GP visits, and paying bills
  • Support while attending events
  • Visiting services
  • Daily welfare checks on the phone or in person
  • Assisting you with the purchase and use of technology
  • Accompanying at home activities such as letter writing, cooking, and knitting
  • Providing respite to caregivers.
